CompanyCam alternative

Job photos with time and GPS, without the CompanyCam price tag.

CompanyCam is a good product, built for contractors running bigger jobs. If you run a small crew and mostly need proof that the work was done, where and when, you may be paying for a lot you never open. Trogster does that one job for $15 a month.

What the two cost

CompanyCam charges per user. Its plans start at around $79 a month, and each extra user adds roughly $29 to $34. Their plan names and prices have changed several times this year, so check their pricing page for today's figures.

The honest version

We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us and leave in a month. Here is where each one is stronger.

CompanyCam does more of this

  • Drawing on photos: arrows, notes and measurements on the picture itself.
  • Project pages and photo galleries you can share with a customer.
  • Ready-made photo reports, generated for you on the higher plans.
  • Links into CRMs and job-management software that a bigger office already uses.
  • Project checklists and templates.

Trogster is built around this

  • Rules per job. You decide what a job needs (say, at least 3 photos, a voice note and a "condition" label) and the app won't send the record until it is there.
  • Photos, video and voice notes on every record, each stamped with the time and GPS location.
  • No logins for your crew. You link a phone once with a 9-digit code. Nobody forgets a password on site.
  • Taken in the app. Media is captured with Trogster's own camera and recorder, so an old picture from the gallery can't be passed off as today's.
  • Works without signal. Records wait on the phone and send when the connection comes back.

So which one?

Stay with CompanyCam if…

you sell big projects where the customer-facing gallery and polished reports help win the work, your office lives in a CRM that CompanyCam connects to, or your team marks up photos every day.

Try Trogster if…

you have a handful of people out on jobs, you mostly need to know the work was done properly, and you want to settle "your guy never came" arguments with a timestamped photo. Most small crews land between $15 and $30 a month.
