Trogster or Timemark? They look alike. They aren't.
Both put a time and a location on photos your team takes in the field, and both cost about the same. People ask us how they differ, so here are the questions we get and straight answers.
Short answer: Timemark is a camera that stamps photos and shares them with your team. Trogster is a job record: you say what each job must include, the worker's phone collects exactly that, and you get one tidy record per visit. If you want stamped photos fast, Timemark is fine. If you want every job done to the same standard, that's what we built.
Isn't Timemark cheaper?
Not really. Software directories list Timemark's team plan at around $5 per user per month, and Timemark says it sets prices by region. Trogster is $15 a month for the first three phones and $5 for each phone after that.
For a team of three to ten, the two land within a few dollars of each other. Price shouldn't decide this one. How your team works should.
So what's the actual difference?
Where you start.
The first is flexible. The second is consistent. On a job where the customer later says "nobody checked the back gate", consistent is what helps you.
Do my workers need to sign up for anything?
Not with Trogster. Your workers never create an account. You generate a 9-digit code in your dashboard, they type it into the free app once, and that phone is linked to your account. If someone leaves, you unlink the phone.
Can a worker skip a photo or use an old one?
Each job in Trogster has its own rules: a minimum and maximum number of photos, videos and voice notes, required notes and required labels. The record won't send until the rules are met.
Photos, video and voice notes are captured inside the Trogster app. There's no button to attach something from the phone's gallery.
Can it record video and voice notes, or only photos?
All three. A record can hold up to 10 photos, 5 videos and 3 voice notes, plus written notes, and each record carries the time and GPS location. Voice notes matter more than people expect: a worker in gloves on a roof will talk for twenty seconds when they won't type a sentence.
What do I see at the office?
A web dashboard with every record from every phone. You can filter by phone, job, label, date or media type, or search the notes. Looking is free: managers and office staff don't use up a seat.
The quickest way to judge it is the live demo, which needs no signup.
When is Timemark the better choice?
If you're a one-person business, or your team just needs to stamp photos and share them without any structure, Timemark is quick to start and has a free tier. It also has features we don’t, such as a wide choice of watermark styles.
If you manage people and need every visit recorded the same way, give Trogster a go.
Try both. It costs nothing.
Trogster's trial runs for 14 days with no credit card. Set up one job, link one phone, and send a test record. It takes about ten minutes.
